Phil's Knicks tenure will go down as the biggest flop since New Coke.

Might be the best think Dolan has done with the Knicks. But wouldn't it be a typical Dolan move if he brought back Isiah Thomas to run the Knicks again.

from cbssports.com:

It looks like New York Knicks president Phil Jackson's job isn't as secure as previously thought. Despite many public proclamations that Jackson will remain in charge until the end of his contract, Knicks owner James Dolan is reportedly expected to part ways with Jackson "early Wednesday morning," according to ESPN's Ramona Shelbune.

The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski, who first reported that Dolan was weighing Jackson's future, amended his report to note that the Dolan-Jackson "partnership could end as soon as Wednesday."

In a series of tweets, Shelburne noted that the Knicks have decided not to buy out star forward Carmelo Anthony, which "accelerated" conversations between Dolan and Jackson as Jackson has made it clear he wanted to move on from Melo.

Back in April, it was reported that New York picked up the option on the rest of Jackson's contract, which runs through the end of the 2018-19 season.

From the TSN article:
The report indicates Dolan has become increasingly worried about Jackson’s fitness for the job and the long-term prospects of success for the Knicks, especially after entertaining trades for 21-year-old power forward Kristaps Porzingis leading up to the NBA Draft.
Dolan as the voice of reason.

Jackson was too old and stuck in his ways (triangle offence) to build a championship calibre team. He tried to do it on the rush and it destroyed any chemistry.

Looks like the Knicks will poach Masi Ujiri from the Toronto Raptors. Lowry is going to leave for sure and they are stuck with Defrozen. Bad years a head for the Raps. :help:

Lmao you know you're bad at your job when Jim Dolan is the one saying "enough is enough."

Phil was never interested in actually turning the Knicks around. He was there for the pay check. It was evident all along.

I don't think the Knicks are a much more attractive destination. Yea you have Porzingis but you also have the worst owner in the NBA. Thanks to Dolan the Knicks haven't been relevant in 20 years. Joke of a franchise.

P-Jax issue was his obsession with the triangle. When your star player wants nothing to do with it and free agents ignore you because of it, maybe it's time to let the coach decide what to do on the court.

Phil was gonna kick it in 2 years anyways, yet still wouldn't let Hornacek implement something other than the triangle. Total clown

About time. Nothing will change as long as Dolan is there but still great for the Knicks.

I'll give Dolan credit for not making money an issue when firing people. He fired Larry Brown and now Jackson with big money left on their deals because its what was best for the team. IT is now running Dolan's WNBA team and some have speculated it wouldn't be a shock to see him come back and run the Knicks.

Fun fact, while your at work and having one of those days when you hate your job, Phil Jackson made $50,000 a day while working for NYK and is now getting a 20 M severance cheque.

The Knicks are the Knicks. Competent management can turn that situation around quickly. Best place to play when the team is decent.

You aren't going to get that with Dolan in charge. There is a reason they have been a joke since he took over control of the team.

They hire a good Ujiri and let him have 100% control and Dolan looks brilliant.

Here's a crazy thought. How about focusing on drafting talent and making your own superstars rather than trying to buy a super team. The Knicks have been a complete joke partly because they try to skip steps in the rebuild. It doesn't matter if you're the mecca of basketball or how much you spend no one is going to play for that clown franchise until it gets some respect and credibility back.
