I think it could help both teams.

Streit, Bellemare for Desharnais, Pateryn and 2nd round pick

Philly needs some RH D-man and Streit will not be returning next year. Desharnais is a UFA and could be tried with Weise again.

Mtl could used a LH D-man to play with Weber until Sergachev comes next year. Bellemare would be more usefull for MTL than Desharnais, there's no place for him on top 2 lines since Danault stole his spot.

So the trade is:

Streit for Pateryn and 2nd round pick 2017.

Bellemare for Desharnais

absolutely have no interest in Streit, dont think he's the right combination to play with Weber. He would probably take Pateryn's place on the 3rd pairing. Wouldnt even do Streit for Pateryn straight up and we have to add a 2nd?

every time I see a Habs fan say 'we don't need a guy like Streit' I think to myself 'what bloody team you watching m8'. They absolutely need a PMD like Streit, and he has something like 35 less giveaways than Petry.

He'd also look better with Weber than any of their LD, don't kid yourself. Markov can't log more than 20 minutes, and Emelin and Beaulieu shouldn't be playing that much either.

Mark Streit is strictly a bottom pairing, PP specialist these days. You don't want him in your top-4.

Pateryn has no value to Philly.

I think Bellemare would be popular in Montreal. Streit isn't the player he was two years ago but I think on a stronger team he would make more use of his offensive skills. And the Flyers can retain around 30% on him to make the total cap hit match.

Streit - $5.25m, Bellemare - 0.7125m
Desharnais - $3.5m, Pateryn - $0.8m

Trade is a pretty good one in my view. I'd be happy to give Pateryn some games down the stretch ahead of one of the three M's. It couldn't hurt.

I would begrudgingly have to agree on Streit. And I know what you mean about Pateryn versus the upcoming Flyers D roster, but if Ron Hextall could magically change Manning into Pateryn, I'd be thrilled. Pateryn is a steady, rugged defensive Dman and no lunkhead with the puck.

I have been saying for awhile that I could see Streit going back there.

the OP looks like the right kind of return.

We need a guy who can skate and play 22+ minutes if we're looking for a new partner for Weber. His level of offense, would be a secondary concern.

I'd do it from Philly's perspective, and I'd even be willing to tweak the draft pick if we're not eating cap space.

Then take DelZotto too, and Manning, as well as Streit. Please, take them...

Streit is not coming back to Montreal, period. We'll pass.

Yes he is....get ready for it.

Hows Del Zotto these days? I could be interested.

Honestly, he has been awful this year. Last year he played against top lines and was great. Then he hurt his wrist. And as Curu said in a Flyers thread, they seemed to take out part of his brain when he had wrist surgery. The mistakes he has been making are not physical, but mental.

So in his 3 years with us, he has had 2 good years and 1 bad year.

He could bounce back, he might not. Who knows.

I've said all year that Streit has value if you can put him in your bottom pair and top powerplay. Use him right and you get a no-risk PP QB for next to nothing.

You're sugar coating it. MDZ can be attributed to 100% of the Flyers defense struggles this year. They re-signed him and the intention was to lean heavily on him and he **** the bed.

Hextall would probably give him away for free.

i'd trade Bellemare just to get him away from Hakstol and an extension (shudders)
