PHILADELPHIA FLYERS -- UNITED STATES PREMIER HOCKEY LEAGUE

See, there is a team playing at the Virtua Skate Zone here known as the Philadelphia Flyers that plays in the brand new United States Premier Hockey League.

What’s that league, you might ask?

The USPHL is uniquely positioned in the Atlantic region to facilitate a clear pathway for players graduating from Bantam hockey looking to progress through Midget and Junior Hockey on to college and pro hockey.

The USPHL will operate with 5 divisions – Premier, Elite and Empire at the Junior Level and 16U and 18U at the Midget level.

Each division provides a step in the progression to fulfilling a player’s ultimate goal of becoming a collegiate or professional hockey player.

Teams have been selected to participate in specific USPHL divisions based upon geography, strong player pools, rink ownership, financial strength and history of success and integrity at the highest level.

Re: Shields

That goal in overtime sucked. It's been what Hitmen fans have been worried about all season.

BUT

Shields has been nothing short of fantastic against the Tigers thus far. He stole game 1, allowing 1 goal on 34 shots. He kept the Hitmen in game 2, allowing 2 goals on 49 shots before the ****** one from centre went in.

He made no less than 3 sensational saves last night, including an absolutely disgusting glove save on a 2 on 1 in overtime.

highlights:

http://www.hitmenhockey.com/video/57189

If Shields hadn't made that save, we'd all be talking about a defensive breakdown by the Hitmen leaving their goalie out to dry costing them game. Instead we are talking about a soft goal on the 50th shot he faced in the game. I will be very, very disappointed if (when) he doesn't start tonight.

In terms of the Flyers prospects - both looked really good. Sanheim is in most of the highlights above, and was everywhere last night. I estimate he played close to 40 minutes. As I noted in his thread in the prospects forum though, he is getting beat up a bit by all the physical play and late hits. But hey, playoff hockey and all that.

Fazleev looks sensational. His skating with the puck has gone through the roof in the last month or so. Great vision, great skating, great hands - he looks like a real player out there. Plus, he's not afraid to get into the corners and muck it up on the cycle. His line has been the best forward line for the Hitmen in the series so far.

Fazleev is the prospect that has most caught my eye this season. Not due to ceiling obviously.

I watched fazleev earlier in the year and was not impressed at all.

Ive started to watch more during the playoffs and his game is very diffrent. He really has hands and speed that are needed in todays game. hard to find those type of guys so late in the draft.

He was pretty underwhelming at the start of the year. Like denominator said, his skating has picked up a notch and it shows. He's more dangerous with the puck and its opening lanes up for him to make plays. He's not even playing with offensive players either. He's playing with Sanheim's brother and Elliot Peterson. They play well together though.

Sanheim, what a keep and a dish to tie it at 2 in the 1st.

He's so good at keeping the puck in the zone. Unfortunately he's had a lot of practice this year as Calgary coughs the puck up a bit too much on the PP.

Another apple for Sanheim. Primary assist on the PP.

I havent caught too many Hitmen games this season. But from what I've seen I can echo what most people say about Sanheim's game. Effortless skating, super heady in the ozone, can definitely work on his Dzone presence, needs to be more physical. In due time though.

Had the "3rd assist" on the first Calgary goal too. Kept the play alive on the delayed penalty.

Good follow on twitter. Seems to watches a lot of hockey. Talks about already drafted and draft eligible prospects.

He's tweeted about Sanheim a couple times this postseason.

They scored so quick I missed the play

He let the guy get inside of him between him and the back of the goal. Guy had a wrap around that deflected for a goal from the slot.

Goal Sanheim! 3pt night so far
