TITLE: Lehigh Valley Phantoms' first-round playoff series with Hershey Bears set

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms stumbled into the final week of the regular season winning just two of their previous six games and still needing to lock up both a playoff spot and home ice advantage for the first round of the postseason.

Ripping off four straight wins, including Friday's thrilling comeback against Providence and the regular season finale in Binghamton Saturday, the Phantoms achieved both.

They'll take that momentum into their first AHL Calder Cup playoff series ever in the Lehigh Valley, and the franchise's first since 2009, starting Friday when they host the Hershey Bears in a best-of-five first-round Atlantic Division Semifinal matchup.

Heading into play Saturday the Phantoms knew they had home ice advantage in the first round and that their first two games would be Friday and Saturday. They just didn't know their opponent or the rest of the series schedule. A 3-0 Bears win over the Bruins Saturday set up a date between the Phantoms and Hershey with the AHL officially announcing the full first-round schedule following the completion of the league's regular season play later that night.

Bunnaman's birthday was today on Easter.

Thanks to you and Jojo for reminding me to celebrate the birthday
of the next certain, surefire, can't-miss, absolute mortal lock Flyers Hall of Famer -

It worries me that he wears 74.

Not a fan of players with numbers in the 70's lately.

The only thing that worries me is that Vecchione took it for now, and it clearly belongs to Bunny, so we have to hope Vecchione is man enough to surrender it to the future Hall of Famer when he arrives. I'm not entirely joking when I say that Vecchione taking 74 put me off him a little

I wouldn't worry too much, I don't think Vecchione is a long term player here. Bunny will probably have his choice if he makes it. He's probably looking at another year of junior and one or two years of AHL first before having a shot at the Flyers.

Any chance the Phantoms games are on TV outside the Lehigh Valley?

As of now the only guarantees for broadcasting per the Phantoms: home playoff games will be broadcast on Service Electric in the Lehigh Valley. All Phantoms playoff games will be available on radio and via the Phantoms365 app.

Just getting the experience of being around the pro's will be good for him. Facing harder, faster, better shots even in practice will be good to go thru.

I don't expect him to play unless it's due to an injury or mop up time in a blowout loss.

I agree. Stolarz' injury gave opportunity but Hart will only see action in extreme circumstances.

Phil Myers and Noranda are down 3-2. The game is about to start. Lose and he'll be headed to Allentown so he can sit next to Mark Freidman.;)

I don't recall who mentioned it the other day (LOD91?). Someone said they thought Myers was laboring on the ice. But sitting here watching this game, I must agree. His skating definitely looks off to me. He very well might be playing hurt.

Huskies with three so far this period and i think myers was on the ice for all of them. Don't think he'll be credited with any assists though

I mentioned it. Not sure if it's related, but last game he took a hit to the mid-section (looked like it anyway) and was hunched over skating to the bench. Looks like he's having a little trouble separating. Even got caught from behind carrying the puck. That never happens to him in that league. Hopefully not the hip/core again. His less than 100% is still pretty good though.

All 3 Phantoms goalies are still there at practice. Hart might be a legit EMERGENCY goalie. I'm not sure he even dresses

I know it's only jr, but I'm starting to get a tad concerned about Myers injury history. I'm a strong believer that staying healthy is a skill, regardless if the injuries are random isolated events. Iron man streaks imo are not celebrated enough in today's NHL.

Morin was always banged up in Junior and luckily he hasn't missed a game due to injury in two seasons. Sometimes you never know.

Injuries concern me because it's missed development time at a crucial stage of the development process. The concussions are a little scary though.

That's pretty much an oxymoron.

No need to worry. Keep in mind, Myers will get stronger with age. That should only improve his dexterity and limit nagging injuries. He is still a lanky kid growing into his body.
