I remember being a huge spitting match between Leafs fans saying Phaneuf, and every other fan saying Giordano.

So Gio this year for sure, every other year would be an easy Phaneuf.

I don't know. There was really no reason to move Phaneuf. I would not have moved him for scraps if I were to move him anyways. At the time I probably would have moved Gio over Phaneuf because Phaneuf is younger. I would still go with Gio but at this point the better career is Phaneuf.

Phaneuf was bad defensively and he still is bad defensively. Even with Leaf fans saying how much Phaneuf has improved defensively, he looks just as bad as he was when he was with the Flames.

Giordano has been better than Phaneuf every since the 2010-2011 season.

D.Sutter being desperate to save his job/get the Flames into the playoffs/Phaneuf not having a NTC is what allowed Phaneuf to be available. Giordano didn't have a lot to do with it.

Phaneuf is terrible. I watch him a lot here in toronto. I always thought he had the potential to be a chris pronger or a bryan mccabe. He is clearly more like mccabe. Good shot, cant skate...
