No, it's not inequality. The LPGA would not be earning anything more than 15-20% of that total negotiating on their own. It's called a market.

The mistake though is that the LPGA brass went with an agreement like that. The PGA Tour is all about themselves, control and money wise.

PGA Tour acknowledges that it keeps more than 90% of revenue in joint TV deals with LPGA

Paywall

2020 agreement allowed leagues to contract for TV coverage jointly. But PGA bringing home more than 90% of income. Even though LPGA is getting more $$ than previously.

Inequality

No, its the definition of equality. Each is getting paid on what they produce.

Here's an example of each's ratings in 2021:

LPGA did a 0.29, 473k viewers
PGA did a 2.4, 5.56 million viewers

So if you have 1 contract for the 2 above, the PGA brought in 92% of the viewers and the LPGA brought in 8%.

It gets far worse when you consider a major, the 2021 Masters did a 5.52 rating, 9.45 million viewers

Professional sports pay is based on how much money and viewers you bring in, period. It's not some great conspiracy, its just that no one cares about or watches female professional sports.
