Yup, And like the OM deal, I dont think it will be any issue if we have to move him, down the line.

Not that I'm preparing for the worst. But a good, young, mobile D man is a commodity in the NHL, even if their play slips a little here and there. I think this is a good one for the Pens.

I'm pretty meh on Pettersson. He's serviceable right now, but any regression at all and he becomes a liability. Hopefully he proves me wrong and gets better over the term of this contract

A bit more term and money than I expected. I would've signed him for 3.5x3, but it's still a decent deal. Hopefully if he keeps improving that contract will eventually look better (not that it looks bad).

For comparisons sake, OM's deal was 5.72% of the cap, Dumos was 5.47%. If the cap goes up to 83M next year, this deal would be 4.85%

It's about what was expected given the sweetheart deal he signed this summer. For that money, he and Marino need to form a strong 2nd pairing moving forward.

MP is young and we have cost-certainty on him for 5.5 years.

If he continues to progress, he'll be a complete steal by year 2 of the new deal.

He struggles at times, but he is a net positive and a top-4 D at 22. We got him for an asset that was losing value by the second.

Hope the cap goes up big the next couple of years. Marino will be near say 5 million Letang money and that suggests Letang is living the dream in Montreal in a couple. I am not crazy here on the deal but Pens know what he will bring as he matures and plays with Marino.

Yeah, I remember JR being candid and literally saying they’d “make it up to him” or something very similar to that.

I like it. This deal was basically a 6 year, $3.4 million AAV deal, but with year 1 being a super discounted year and years 2-6 being $600k higher. I'm glad that the Penguins have this sorted out, makes cap projections for next year easier.
