Welp, guess he's a UFA next year then?
We'll see how that plays out.

I imagine he's done with us after this year.

Schultz, Fayne and Nikitin can all play right side for us next year, and I'm sure 2 of our 3 kids (Marincin, Kelfcom, Nurse) will be ready to play left side by then.

I guess they came to a compromise. Seems like a reasonable outcome, though it does indicate that how the Oilers view Petry isn't close to how Petry views himself.

Like CornKicker said, it's a "show me" contract.

Bad faith signing. Trade him now that he's signed to a year to a team like the Islanders who always expect to sign upcoming UFAs.:naughty:

Seems like a pretty bad outcome for the Oilers.
Must have been a huge discrepancy in the trade market between how they valued him and how other teams did.

Even if he shows dominant play I don't think we are prepared to give him much money considering that we can live without him and spend that cash elsewhere. If I had to guess we will be trading him at the deadline.

I doubt we would be trading him this summer, or else why bother signing him instead of just trading his rights?

That seems like a sad group without Petry. I think the Oilers need him way more than hfOil thinks we do.

His value just went down if we wanted to trade him, considering he's now a UFA soon.

Good price, but I wanted him long term, market doesn't look good next year and he'll be paid.
