Jokke Nevalainen tweet makes it seem it is a foregone conclusion he is back with JyP in 2020-21 but eliteprospects has him listed as signed through 2019-20.

Any chance he is in Utica next year or has that ship sailed? Seems like he had a decent season though JyP was a middle of the pack club.

At 5 foot 6, he needs to be an offensive cog in the engine, but he didn't produce at the AHL level, 1 point in 12 games. Tier 2 Europe seems to be in his future. The organization has moved on from him.

The chance of Palmu being with the Comets next season is about the same as Bobby Orr, bad knees and all, coming out of retirement to play for the Comets next season.

After 12 dismal games with the Comets in which the Comets watchers on this thread indicated that he was in over his head, Palmu went to Finland and didn't even come back to North America for training camp last summer. He was in Finland because neither he nor the Canucks saw a future for him in the Canucks' system.

IIRC the Utica guys basically said he's too small and can't skate. Probably safe to close the book on him at this point.
I have no problem with taking a flyer on a guy like Palmu in the later rounds of a draft. My only issue is why they signed him in the first place. All he's done is take up a contract spot for the last three seasons, and he didn't have enough 'game' to even be a contributor at the AHL level.

There goes my dream of a Petrus Palmu - Artyom Manukyan one two punch. Not sure who would centre that line. Maybe Nick Bjugstad?
