It's not quite that young considering Pouliot has been playing pro hockey for 3 years, and has shown little improvement. Kunitz was an undrafted late-bloomer out of college. In his 3rd pro year he broke out in the NHL with 19 goals and 22 assists in 69 games, and held that level for the next 10 years.

There's also a lot to be said about speed, worth ethic and determination, none of which Pouliot has ever shown.

Pouliot is 23... forward chris Kunitz, for comparison, didnt score an nhl goal till he was 26... and turned into a key player for years... pouliot has to get the defesive side of the game down better, but plenty of nhl dmen did that later in their careers... 23 is still quite young

Pouliot is also close to being waiver-eligible, so we can't really keep developing him in the AHL for much longer. He's either gotta put up or we move him for some assets or we lose him on waivers for nothing.
