Great to take that one, but this powerplay is going to cost us huge sooner rather than later at this rate.

Huge freaking win. The PP blows but great effort overall. This team is dictating the play 5 on 5 most nights.

Good news is Kessel looks really engaged and the confidence is growing. Letang is a freak athlete. Daley is awesome. Sid is pretty good.

My two takeaways from this game:

1 - We lost most of the board battles i thought.
2 - Lovejoy is unable to hit anything on his shots but the back boards.

Poo played almost 20 minutes tonight.

Really, this defensive unit, minus Dumo, minus Maatta, look at it:

Letang, okay. Daley too. But, two #7's, the guy who was run out of Edmonton, and the guy who was benched after the guy who was ran out of Edmonton was acquired.

You know what, mad props to Jacques Martin right now. I'm not sure what more a coach can get out of this unit.

+Kessel is a beast
+So is Hagelin
+Kuhn-Cullen-Rust
---Kunitz
-Our D looks pretty lost without the only two defensive-minded guys out of the lineup. The Pooh-Lovejoy pairing especially was pretty bad.
--PP still awful
-Bonino wasn't good.
=Crosby had a pretty mediocre game all things considered

Give Phil the C

I did not realize that was an option. But the Phil is in on a ridiculous number of our goals lately. Even when he doesn't get points he's strong on the boards and making things happen.

This Phil is a difference maker.

This is the hockey I was expecting coming into the season. Only took a few trades, a few roster moves, a retirement and a coaching change for it to happen.

+ Kessel with another nice game.

+ Sid taking over on that 3v3

-----Kunitz. He was really really bad tonight.

- Powerplay needs fixed. Take Kunitz off of it and put Kessel back on it.
