It's great skipping this board for weeks and then come back and see that the board has regressed even further to the point of someone advocating for a coke head. Bravo!

I don't see a spot for Teravainen, or any other top-9 UFA F, really.

As has already been mentioned, he's more of what we already have. But I guess he could be a target if the plan is to move on from both of Smith and Rakell.

I really like the player. He's very smart. It just doesn't make sense here/now.

I'd be fine with targeting Sprong or a Sprong type of player for exactly that role. But Teravainen isn't that, Teravainen is going to cost $6 million to come play on Crosby's wing and drag that line down. It's basically just bringing in another Granlund.

I'd argue that they may already have that PP specialist type of guy in Puustinen, so you'd probably have to be replacing him if they're bringing in that Sprong type of guy. But even then, I'm still fine with doing that. But that's way different than bringing in Granlund 2.0 on an expensive long-term deal.

Yea I don't know enough about TT to make a comment either way on him.

This team needs a Martin Fryk or a late career Phil Housely. A PP specialist that the opposition really is worried about. The Sid and Geno PP (and EK) show needs to end immediately.

Since we're on that topic, I agree that Puus could be that person. While they may not have converted with him on the units, it was more of a threat certainly.
And they have another potential PP weapon they barely tried last year: Bennstrom on the left circle. Let him play the Ovi spot- just the threat of that 1 timer can open up so many other options. But considering the idiotic coaches at the helm it's really not surprising they couldn't come up with a different setup until game 65 had passed...

When you don't make the playoffs for 2 years, desperate times. Everything should be on the table

Wouldn't necessarily be my first choice. Although personally I think UFA this year is a wasteland if you want top six talent.

It's basically Guentzel and Bennett who I assume re-sign with Carolina and Florida and then you've got the elders like Stamkos, Marsh, Tarasenko and nothing else.

id want stephenson if you could get him at a good price. id go trade first though for top 6 over ufa's. then fill in with ufa and young players

I think that's why Debrusk is being talked about. I have not followed Josh Anderson for a couple of years, but I thought he'd always be ideal for this team.

100%.

That's why I'm bullish on a couple guys signed to longer term deals who are at all-time low value.

Not really sure why this board is treating options like PLD and Nichushkin like lepers when they're exactly the kind of crisitunities an asset-deprived team that still wants to compete needs to be exploring.

The alternative is the likes of Teravainen. Pretty uninspiring.

That cokehead just finished scoring 9 goals in 8 playoff games while making a hair more than Reilly Smith, who scored 13 goals in 76 regular season games.

I would take PLD if we can dump salary. I wouldn't touch Nichuskin, because I think we are out of the playoffs by the team he returns.

I'm on the same page with you though.

In what world is Debrusk physical? He's a very similar player to Rakell.

Oh yeah, Graves would have to be going the other way for it to be viable.

I don't see how this team would be out of the playoffs by Game 20, or how anyone else we could add at 6 mil per for nothing would add more than Nuke could in 60 games.

I mean we were effectively out of the playoffs by Game 20 this year.

I imagine if PLD is coming our way it'd be in a Jarry swap. But, like I said.. LA kinda came out and put the end to me thinking they'll move him.

Do you have a better use for 6 mil per?

Who else would even come close to Nichushkin's impact at that price?

Let's hear it.
Ehlers
Necas
Buchnevich

Depends on who comes available if you go through trade.

Ufa id go after Stephenson or Marchessault. Maybe one of them helps smith bounce back. Marchessault on a short term

DOC - Sid - Rust
Bunting - Geno - rakell
Smith - Pono/Poulin - Marchessault

Keep trade pieces and upgrade in season.

These are completely different issue. I’d be fine taking a risk on PLD.

Nuke has a 6 year contract. It's not just about next year or the one after. Every year has equal value, not just the immediate ones.
And we're not gonna need him for the final 3-4 years of that.

And we certainly don't need 7 years of PLD when we should rebuild in 2-3.

Not sure I see the issue with trying to move a 30 year old PLD with 3-4 years left. Especially if we are willing to eat 50% of his cap.

Honestly, probably brings us back a 1st round pick similar to how Hertl did.

In spite of how much of a roller coaster this season was, we did only miss by a hair.

But again, people looking at it as lost cap space until November are kind of missing thd big picture, I think. Nobody else we could add would have close to his impact at 6 mil per. Nuke for 60 games would do this team a lot more good than any 6 mil addition we'd add in FA who played 80 games. If anyone doubts that, I'd like to know who they have in mind.

He'll either have value or he'll be suspended for life. It's not like he'd be dead cap space.

if we get a few good years of him, he could be moved fo picks. that's a win, win.

This whole idea of "Nichushkin has no risk to acquire, because if he screws up again he'll be banned" ignores the fact that if that were actually true, the Avs would just keep him.

The idea that Nuke is this no risk, major reward acquisition while the Avs would just gladly give him away for "reasons" is silly.

I’d love for nothing more than to dress an entire backend of offensive-minded, puck-moving defensemen. If they’re going to make us watch the last few years of these guys, at least make it fun and exciting again.

Ya if the avs move him that means it’s bad. They don’t need him in regular season. If they know he’s coming back or think he can they won’t move him

Remember when we thought that adding Karlsson would make this past season exciting? And he was for like 10 games? Then he learned to play the right way? 😞
