The mumps are a contagious and infectious viral disease that causes swelling of the parotid salivary glands in the face, and there is a risk of casuing sterility in adult males.
How can you avoid this disease?
Don't play for the Penguins! (pause of laughter). But seriously, it's quite treatable. Just take some acetaminiphen or ibuprofen, and apply warm/cold packs to the swollen and possibly inflamed salivary gland region.
