:pens against :bruins

Not sure if Dumo will play, his 1st kid is due, if he is not already here.

Horny is off the Viagra and once again limp :(

Jake is 13 points in 13 games.

The Rat is in town trying to extend his career high point streak to 13 games.

Pasta dish is trying to tie his best point streak to 12 games.

Not seen any practice lines on Twitter today but NHL.com has this on their site

Jake Guentzel -- Sidney Crosby -- Dominik Simon

Alex Galchenyuk -- Evgeni Malkin -- Bryan Rust

Jared McCann -- Nick Bjugstad -- Dominik Kahun

Zach Aston-Reese -- Teddy Blueger -- Brandon Tanev

Juuso Riikola -- Kris Letang

Marcus Pettersson -- Justin Schultz

Jack Johnson -- John Marino

Matt Murray
Tristan Jarry

Galchenyuk - Show something. Anything.

Tanev deserves to be in the top 9 based on his play.

Lafferty should also get a shot in the top 9 based on his play.

Besides those 3 things, I love this team.

If we can prevent Pastrnak-Bergeron-Marchand from scoring, keep their NHL-best PP from scoring, and avoid being Halaked, then I like the Pens chances...lol

And If I win the lottery I won’t be poor anymore.

Seriously, I’d like to see the Pens make a good showing but predicting 5-2 Bruins. I’m really jealous of their defense outside of Chara.

A boost of speed on L2 to help scoring?

Will Bjugstad give us more of the same blah play?

Will our l1 shut down their l1 like they did the Oilers?

Will Murray show up?

The ZAR-Blueger-Tanev line is the third line.

The other bottom six line should be Kahun-McCann-Lafferty, with Bjugs in the press box or, preferably, on another roster.

I think Rust represents a better fit for the Gally-Geno combo than Horny did (that winger duo just is a bad fit). IF Gally falls flat again, with Geno playing more N/S and a little smarter with the decisions AND with the right type of RW (a speedy guy), then Sully is quickly going to be forced into making a decision where Gally is concerned (I hope it wouldn't involve continuing to force feed him into a role at Geno's expense, but I'm not sure, as that never has seemed to be a problem for Sully before).

I'll give Galchenyuk another 10 games before I start to worry about his fit/future. He's only played, what, five? And he's been slowed by injury to boot.

I would like to see him find some confidence sooner rather than later though. He and Geno (both individually as well as a combo) are going to have to be great for us to make a real run this season. If either or both are mediocre or struggling, we're in trouble.

Fair enough, but we can't have Sullivan sacrificing Geno's confidence/sanity in the process, and it's not like Sullivan's 'well, I don't know where he fits, so I'll put him with Geno' approach hasn't become an issue in the past

It's a rough spot, I think. Rust and even Tanev as well as Lafferty are probably "better" options right now, but you can't really put Galchenyuk with Bjugstad and hope that breaks him out of his funk either.

Just gotta hope it clicks, I guess. I don't know.

With how much forward depth this team has I think 15 games is too much rope for players(save the obvious exceptions...Galcheyuk isn't one lol) to figure their shit out. Not worried about Spider-man yet, just don't see the point in having him if he can't find chemistry with Malkin and is not going to be on PP1.

One thing I am very confident: the Pens will play with intensity and not quit.

That has been the constant all year.

Will it be enough to win tonight? Maybe, maybe not; the Bruins are a formidable team. However, I am pretty sure that as long as we keep that going, we will more games than we will lose.

Let's stay positive and appreciate the entertaining hockey we are getting so far this year.

The problem with Galchenyuk's situation is that he's probably not worth a ton if we trade him. If he bottoms out to the point where we are willing to cut ties with him, why would anyone want him? He's either gotta figure it out or he's gonna be allowed to walk this summer.

Trading him would not be about the return, it would be about the cap space to do something else.

I suspect Malkin really wants things to work with Galchenyuk. Possibly more than anyone.

Such as? I'm not against it, if there's something out there. But what is reasonably out there that would require clearing Galchenyuk's contract from the books in order to do it?

I like cap space but we need assets to acquire someone with substantial cap too. I'm not sure we really have the assets to trade to land a significant piece outside of our 1st rounder. Unless we want to wait until the summer for guys like Kreider and Hall to hit the open market, but that's gonna be like a demolition derby involving dump trucks full of money. JR doesn't exactly have the best track record in FA either. Still probably need to package someone/something with JJ to rid ourselves of the 3+ years left on his deal too.
