I'm guessing that this could be a move that pre-dates a trade. Martin might be a better cap dump to other teams if he's already in the AHL, right?

he looked really REALLY bad in his AHL conditioning stint. He's better off retiring.

His time has come maybe time to retire..

why do that when he likely clears then, if we want we can make a deal for him and have SJ retain some salary instead of taking on the full cap hit.

If we claim him we have to take on the full cap hit, it makes no sense to claim him
