Identical term and the salary is very close (Martin's AAV is $0.15M cheaper). Would either team consider this?

Would San Jose be interested in giving up pick or prospect to buy some cap space for this season and next? Just swap these two and "pay" Buffalo to retain salary on Moulson.

If Moulson isn't good enough to play in Buffalo, why would the Sharks be interested in him? They'd save more money burying Martin than acquiring Moulson. That's only going to happen if Martin allows it and Buffalo retains like a million.

The idea was that the Sharks would keep Moulson in the AHL unless injuries occur, and would probably be looking to save cap space by paying Buffalo to retain salary.

Sabres either use Martin or bury him.

It depends on the cap space to asset ratio we're talking about here. Sharks probably aren't giving up anything better than a 3rd round pick in 2019 to do a deal like this. They would probably buy Martin out before they did a deal like this.

Martin would waive to any team if it meant playing in the NHL rather than the AHL.

Sj - Buf can get around the NTC by putting Martin on Waivers and having Buffalo claim him
