Marleau for me. Kessel at his best was probably a tiny bit better. But overall Marleau has better career and he was the better player.

He still had a 92 point season and with all the other weapons he wasn’t the main shooter. He was an underrated playmaker

The whole Kessel would’ve scored 50 goals if he played with X is BS though

I wouldn't want either of them on my team because they are both tremendously soft, but I think Kessel is/was the better player of the two. Even though he does everything in his power to avoid anything even resembling contact, at least he produced. He even did well in the playoffs when sheltered in the lineup.

3 of those top 10 point finishes came while having Tyler Bozak as his center. Quite impressive.

Neither of them are a playmaker on Thornton's level.

Thornton made Jonathan Cheechoo a 56 goal Rocket winner. Kessel scored 37 twice with Tyler Bozak as his center. Prime Kessel stapled to Thornton's hip scores 50 and wins Rockets
