Patrick Marleau joins the 1500GP club

You know you’re asking the impossible of him.

There’s a certain subsection of Sharks fans that have always and will always hate Marleau with the burning passion of a thousand suns because he wasn’t physical enough or didn’t show enough emotion (some people just don’t show a lot of emotion on their face! Marleau is not obliged to do it so you have visual proof that he cares, or whatever).

It’s always funny to see guys on HF who have never played professional hockey go after Marleau. He is highly respected by his teammates, who actually see what’s going on behind the scenes. He’s played through injuries that we rarely hear about (mostly in the playoffs).

Patrick Marleau is 17th overall in playoff goals and 9th in playoff game-winning goals all-time.

There never was a player so unappreciated by the fans of the team he gave 19 years to. I hope he wins a Cup with Toronto.
