Didn’t even know you could have 10-year deals

Think it goes to $400 million? Currently, the highest average is Wilson at $35 million, so with it being a 10-year contract, you have to think that there's some future inflation added in there, otherwise Mahomes would rather just do 4-5 year contracts at a time.

I’m guessing between 400-450

It was the best move for them. if you give him a 5 year deal, you'll just have to pay him again after its done.

Lock him in at a high number for the rest of his prime. QB cap hits are only going higher so by year 3 his will look like a bargain.

There's no doubt Mahomes could probably make a lot more by instead going with two or even three contract extensions over that time span, but I can't blame a guy for taking in the comfort and security that comes from signing one massive contract and never having to think about it again. He will likely never again have to worry about negotiations or contract year performances. Heck, he doesn't even really need an agent any longer.

Yikes, I know they didnt really have a choice, but these contracts rarely ever work out well.

You think he would make more than 55 million a season?

That contract won't be a bargain for 50 years

Doesn’t really matter the term cause he’ll likely have to restructure it for the team later on down the line.

he likely gets $100 mill guaranteed. This isn’t Cousins who got the entire 3 years of his contract fully guaranteed.

extra years are meant to help the team lower the cap hit and spread out signing bonuses.

this is going to be way more than $100 million guaranteed. If the reported 550 million is correct, it’s at least $250 million.

Yes. These contract numbers are only going up and going up fast.

2010 season: 1 QB with $20 million cap hit (the first year of McNabb's extension with Washington was $24.8 M -- most top QBs were making around $12 million)
2015 season: 2 QBs with $20 million cap hits (with Brees the highest at $23.8 million -- most top QBs were making around $17 million)
2020 season: 15 QBs with cap hits greater than $20 million (with two above $30 million -- most top QBs will make around $25 million)
