Panarin said month(s) ago that September X (?) was his cutoff date and from that point on he was focusing on the season (not re-signing or talking contracts with trade partners). Was right around this time so it isn’t unexpected.

Columbus still wants to sign him. Panarin is probably gone, but he hasn't said he won't sign. I would call that so-called news and in fact my opinion that he probably won't sign speculation.
