CW has Indycar’s version of drive tk survive thats dropping in a few weeks too…. I bet when Indycar gets their next tv package, you see a few of the lesser races on the schedule end up there tol
They’re not going to do that.Or we can have the ruling of the anti-siphoning law being unconstitutional reversed and thus the FCC can then require the Cup Finals be OTA every year.
Why would UNLV change their name of the school? Everyone already knows what UNLV is. What does that have to do with anything? You don’t just decide to be a polytechnic institute because the name is available.Of course, adding UNLV rather than SMU alongside San Diego State maintains the Pac-12 having three geographic groups of four schools split into two further geographic pairs:
Four Corners: Arizona/Arizona State, Colorado/Utah
Northwest: Oregon/Oregon State, Washington/Washington State
Southwest: California/Stanford, San Diego State/UNLV
The new football schedule format I am proposing under this alignment is a cutback to 7 conference games. Each team would play the other three teams in their regional pods every year, while playing one school from each of the other geographic pairs, in alternating two-year cycles.
As part of a move to the Pac-12, UNLV could change its name to Nevada Tech University to distinguish itself from the University of Nevada in Reno (Nevada State is already taken), and adopt a new nickname to go with it, perhaps Blackjacks, since Rebels comes with rather unfortunate connotations.
Those in the camp of the university in Reno often derisively refer to UNLV by its former name of Nevada Southern, much to the chagrin of the UNLV camp. And this name change would be an attempt to curb that. Why would UNLV change their name of the school? Everyone already knows what UNLV is. What does that have to do with anything? That matters for no reason at all. Would you change the name of UCLA?Those in the camp of the university in Reno often derisively refer to UNLV by its former name of Nevada Southern, much to the chagrin of the UNLV camp. And this name change would be an attempt to curb that.

UNLV makes more sense geographically than SMU, who would be better to go to the Big 12 so that their TCU game can be a conference game again. The Pac-12 hasn't talked to UNLV, much less offered them an invite. Besides, with the football championship game and conference basketball tournament there now, they already have a presence in Vegas. Adding UNLV really doesn't do much for them. Period.
Conference realignment hasn't been about geography for about 20 years now. It's all about eyeballs, with geography being a bonus. SMU makes a lot more sense, because the DFW metro area is a heckuva lot bigger than Vegas/Henderson, NV.
There are two ways UNLV goes to the Pac-12:
1) The Pac-12 goes for 14 to keep up, adding San Diego State, SMU, UNLV, and ???
2) More current Pac-12 schools leave, and the Pac-12 merges with the Mountain West, keeping the Pac-12 brand recognition for the leftovers.

Plus SMU is a religious institution, a huge reason why BYU was not invited over 10 years ago. As well, the Dallas Stars complained for years about having to be in the Pacific Division.
Vegas will give a damn about the Athletics. People moving in from everywhere else will see to that. BTW, Vegas tourism is in trouble at this time. The announcement of the Athletics move to Las Vegas just reinforces the notion that UNLV is a better choice for the Pac-12 than SMU. That's because everyone wants to be in Vegas now.
I'm sure a lot of Pac-12 athletes, both current and future, would love to be in Vegas more often than just going there for conference championships. It is more of a destination than Dallas.
As it stands, UNLV can only play the MW football title game in their own stadium if they finish with the #1 seed in the conference. In the Pac-12, they'd be able to do it regardless of whether they are #1 or #2.
The Big 12 could definitely raid the American again if it fails to land any Pac-12 schools not going to the Big Ten. My proposal of Boise State, Memphis, SMU, South Florida, Temple, and Tulane joining the conference would add four more top 50 markets to the conference, make SMU-TCU a conference game for the first time since 2000 with the potential to stage it at AT&T Stadium every year on Black Friday which would be a huge moneymaker, and give the Big 12 the only non-green playing surface in the Power 5 in Boise State's blue turf. Temple would make Philadelphia the Big 12's largest market.
