That's a crazy thing to say man. No rookie cap, sure, like that wouldn't lead to issues for the league down the line. Again, short term gain for long term problems.
The 2 main issues for the PA in all this are No Salary Cap and the retention of their guaranteed contracts. Of course, like Burke has said all along, all contracts can be bought out at 2/3 of the remainder of the deal, but given that payment is immediate, and you only have 1/3 of the contract left to replace what you thought was going to be a very important player to your team, that rarely happens.
I'm kind of thinking, either the NHL should offer a salary cap with guaranteed contracts (same buyout rate) or offer the PA a luxury tax, but with a huge reduction in the buyout rate to only 15 to 20% of the contract.
