Hello Everyone,
Regarding overage and import spots which teams have surplus and which teams have room?
It seems to be a down year for OAs. Not as many high end OA's as usual (or is it just me?)

Doesn't seem like there are many high end OA's available.

Would say that London, Barrie and Oshawa are top teams that will have to make one available.

Flint currently has an open OA spot and an open Import spot. The Import spot is expected to be filled when Jan Jenik reports.

Erie has two imports, Poddubnyi and Cajka (though Cajka has not officially signed yet) and two OAs, Maksimovich and Girhiny. I won't be surprised if they make Maksimovich available at the trade deadline.

Owen Sound still has 6 OAs so they will have to make a move at some time.

OS has 5 OA's on the roster at this point in time I would imagine that management is considering options at some point to move 2.

At this point it will be more guess work who will stay and who go but with the league rules being clear that 3 OAs will have to be the limit by the trade-deadline in January 2 players will find new homes before the season is out.

To those who leave best of luck with their new teams and those who stay.

Regarding imports they are more of trickier thing as of right now there is no official list on what teams import reported and who hasn't.

I can only say that OS has filled there compliment of imports and 6 OAs on the roster.

Soo has 4 OA and 1 import. Unlikely that Rasmus Sandin reports to fill the 2nd import; more likely destinations are Marlies or Rogle. Most likely OA being shopped around is the goalie Tyler Johnson.

I believe Girhiny is likely to end up with Niagara. They will score lots of goals but may need an overager to be a specialist on the penalty kill...like Girhiny.

In Peterborough.....
Imports - Liam Kirk and Erik Cermak
OAs - Osmanski, Timleck, Paquette, Dow

IMO Dow will be the odd man out. He wouldn't be an upgrade for any team so I don't expect the Petes will be able to deal him.

Lipanov is being returned to junior, if he plays in the O then the wolves now have 14 days to deal/release either Lipanov or Malik

So how is this situation similar/different to the Knights’ situation they just had. It looks to me like Sudbury will just have to release Lipanov, no?

Was very similar, but we got two thirds back. Papineau wasted no time lol.

Lipanov was not a 1st year import player in the league so he can be traded. The London player was a first year import so could not be traded.
Just to expand on what ohloutsider said, Sudbury had two Imports from last year (Lipanov & Malik), either of which can be traded. They added Luukkonen this offseason through the draft - he could not be traded (not that they were getting rid of him).

In contrast, London had only 1 import from last year (Boqvist - eligible to trade), and added 2 more this offseason (Guskov & Kolyachonok - neither eligible to trade). Since they were never dropping Boqvist their only option was to put one of the others on waivers.

I believe 1st imports can now be dealt come December.
BUT tje second condition is if you have 3 because one is returned from pros you only have 14 days to get down to 2.
So therefore cant wait until December on 1st year picks
