What would your starting 11 look like if you were to make a team using the current 14 Premier League sides that are not; City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Man U?

Feel free to add a bench as well!

EDIT: To make things more interesting, pick one player from each team that finished in 7-17 to make up you 11!

Maybe something like this. Midfield and attack is kinda just thrown together. Could certainly use some work on formation and how they fit together.

Zaha - Vardy - Arnautovic
Lanzini - Doucoure - Neves
Digne - Maguire - Diop - Doherty

I’d agree with this except I’d swing Zaha to the right and swap Arnautovic with Felipe Anderson. And Pereira at RB.

Okay changing things up to get more diverse squads, pick one player from each team in between 7 and 17 to construct your squad. You can use any formation you like.

Love it! Here's my stab:

Wilson
ST

Arnautovic
CF

Richarlison....Zaha
LW - RW

Neves....Doucoure
CM - CM

Bertrand....Dunk....Lascelles....Pereira
LB - CB - CB - RB

Henderson (assuming he signs with Sheffield)
GK

Bench: ST Pukki...MF Grealish...FW A. Barnes

Also Wan Bissaka really f***ed up my plans at LB going to a top 6 (maybe?) club

GK: Patricio (got to admit it is difficult to evaluate GKs from teams you don't watch more than 5 times a year or so)
RB: Doherty (wan Bissaka clearly isn't CP any longer - could also have been Pereira)
CB: Ake
CB: Maguire
LB: Digne
RW: Richarlison
CM: Doucoure
CM: Sigurdsson (a stretch at CM, but he used to play in a slightly deeper role for Iceland)
LW: Anderson
ST: Vardy (Arnautovic is better at his best, but oh boy he is lazy at times)
ST: Zaha

Can't be bothered choosing one from each team. Only one I feel should have been in the team is Maddison. And Lanzini would be in it if he can get back to his best after his injury. Neves is in my opinion overrated. Still young so he can get there, but he is just so slow. The likes of Tarkowski, Lascelles etc. are toin cosses to me compared to Ake and Maguire. Diop got all the potential in the world, but he needs to play like that for one more year - then he could quite possibly be the best CB outside of the top 6.

Very solid team if you ask me. A lot of good players around these days. It feels like the PL is finally seeing the kind of talent among the mid table teams you would expect considering the money available.

Would anyone take a bottom 14 all-star team over any of the top 6? Just for this next season.

Probably over United/Arsenal and maybe Chelsea.
I was initially thinking I'd take them over a team, maybe 2, but United/Arsenal/Chelsea still have some very high-caliber players that would put them over the top. I think the fact that you have to think about it is a very good thing for the league. Even though the bottom 14 doesn't have a team that can jump into the top 6 consistently, there is enough talent among those clubs for them to compete. With smart buys and development, we could see them break-through and make the league even more interesting.

Those Arsenal "stars" are ageing quickly. I would most definitely take the bottom 14 over Arsenal. Not even that close in my opinion. Outside of Aubameyang and Lacazette who are clearly better than what the bottom 14 can field? I would honestly struggle to fit more than 2 Arsenal players into a team that includes Arsenal as bottom 14.

United is a closer call. But it very much depends on which De Gea and Pogba that will show up. If DDG plays like last year and Pogba isn´t in the right frame of mind staying - then bottom 14 for sure. Utd could go either way next year.

Chelsea without Hazard and bad injuries to RLC and Odoi means I would take bottom 14 over them as well. Like Utd there is a lot of uncertainty around Chelsea. I could see Spurs post Bale coming. Spurs just didn´t know what to do without Bale. Could very well end up the same without Hazard. Hazard made difficult decisions easy for his teammates.

Not to say that any of these can´t end up top 3. Football is a team game and teams have spells that are a bit random (either good or bad).

Top 3 are better. Or at least will be after Spurs have spent some money.

Hrm...

If we're using the original rules of any number of players from a team below the top 6:

Zaha
Anderson - Maddison - Fraser
Ndidi - Neves
Digne - Ake - Schar - Pereira
Fabianski

The 'one player from each team' thing...

Deeney
Zaha - Anderson - Perez

Digne - Ake - Bednarek- Pereira
