That almost sounds like an NFL team in a way. They always have these training camp fights with the Head Coach liking the "competitive fire".

In all fairness to the Leafs, I have heard that these sort of skirmishes happen more often in practice when tempers flare than the media reports, but the mere fact that the media has this kind of access about Leaf practice fights and reports it to the whole hockey world is kind of an indictment of the professionalism of the Leafs' franchise as a whole. The Leafs have made themselves a running sitcom in Toronto.

Once was during Sutter and the other fight was in the MacLean season training camp.

I remember Sutter saying he didn't mind the guys fighting that day.

Then the stories about the 95 team that we heard recently. Stevens and Claide fighting in the locker room when Danton Cole and Shawn Chambers first arrived. And McKay fighting someone (forgot who) on the team plane that year over a card game.
