Question...why would the Sens have any use for Gaborik? Especially if they are retaining a large amount of Dion's salary?

If the Sens are retaining, they're not taking Gaborik. We've seen odder things happen but if they retain $2 million, they're getting something of value, even with the term left on Dion's contract.

They shouldn't be both retaining and taking Gaborik's contract. The only exception would be is if it's true that Gaborik intends to retire at the end of the season. If they both retain and take on Gaborik's contract (with no retirement) and there isn't a big asset coming back to Ottawa, that's a pointless move.

I dont know if he'd retire, he has a healthy amount of money left on his deal after this year.
