In a nut shell .... yes. Rose is simply trolling. Making assumptions based upon “facts” he’s pulling out of his ass. Ennuendo is his specialty and he’s playing it in spades.

Coyotes don’t have any real reason to fund a campaign like this. TSRA will be there no matter what happens with the Suns. There are plenty of “dark money” types in AZ who could though. The Coyotes are not part of the renovation plans at TSRA and frankly speaking.... reposting this kind of ennuendo garbage with no solid facts to support it only serves to hijack the topic.

I tend to agree with Legend here. The Yotes have nothing to gain through opposing the proposed renovations. If we could go back to the idea of how this affects the hockey team.....we said..

1- It simply ensures that the Yotes aren't moving downtown, but we already knew that anyway. If the Yotes were opposing the renovation, this wouldn't change at all. Denying the Suns their renovation actually makes it MORE unlikely that the Yotes get free money from a municipality, because it sets the precedent of a public vote on such matters.

2- It may make it slightly more difficult for the Yotes to find an arena partner, because said partner will be aware that the 'new' TSRA will work hard to keep all the non-hockey events. For this reason, it's possible that the Yotes might oppose the money for the Suns, but this is a VERY long stretch of an argument.

What's your excuse?
I'm going to cautiously agree with the take Rose just has an axe to grind with coyotes.

Getting public money for arenas is harder than ever. Most of the electorate is relatively well informed, and can easily organize against it.

How the Phoenix Suns arena deal went from dead-in-the-water to an easy victory

To quote:

"The Phoenix Suns arena renovation deal did not have the votes it needed to pass on Dec. 12 when the Phoenix City Council was initially supposed to vote on the issue.

A month later, the $230 million deal passed easily, with only the council's two conservatives voting against it.

It was virtually the same deal as the one before the council in December. So why such a turnaround?

The shift was not only on the council but in public opinion as well.

Over the course of a month, the Suns and city management were able to convince residents and politicians alike that the deal wasn't as bad for taxpayers as they may have initially thought.

And ultimately, the Suns threw in a few sweeteners to seal the deal."

It's been a week since the City of Phoenix voted for the renovation of TSRA and it seems like the commentary on that decision has run its course.

I'm closing this thread up and look forward to the next installment of covert megathread.
