Addendum to my picks:

The best director, best movie awards will go to 1917 and Parasite, but, right now, it could be in any possible combination. I could see both directors and both movies sweeping or I a could see both split the categories in either possible order.

Hoping for Parasite. But just can't quite believe that Hollywood would allow a South Korean film to take top prize. Still if Parasite wins either the editing category where it is in tough against Ford and Ferrari and/or the best production category where it is in tough against Once upon a Time...in Hollywood, that might be an indication that it will pull the big upset.

I don't see any big upset happening in the acting categories, where each of the favourites have virtually swept other awards presentations.

So there is an award for hair dressing and make up but not casting. Seems an oversight.

If this pool ends in a tie, the tie breaker should be who picked best movie, followed, if necessary, by best director. If it's still a tie after that, dem's the breaks/

Yeah agreed with that tiebreaker.

For me, I'm taking Bong Joon Ho for Director even though people think Mendes is a lock because I kind of feel like it'll be a "make up prize" for Parasite not winning Best Picture to take home the next biggest prize. I don't think the voters see the Director award as sacred as the Best Picture award in terms of a South Korean film taking it.

I think best actor is very weak this year. Phoenix did good in the Joker and it was very hyped so I fully expect him to win it.

Supporting Actor was a close one for me.... nearly went with Pitt there. Another toss up IMO.

I think Pitt will win, as well as Dern winning supporting actress. I also think adapted screenplay will go to either Jojo Rabbit or Little Women.

Bates was just too damn good in Richard Jewell for me not to pick her. Her scene when she was pleading to Clinton to help her son.... man I almost cried lol

She was absolutely phenomenal. I just wonder if maybe she had too small of a role overall to win.

I got 15/24. I thought that I was doing pretty well until the top two didn't go my way.

It would've helped if I'd seen all of the nominees. I had to take some guesses.

I think I was 21 of 24, though I got the big two wrong, wrong, wrong. I've never felt better about making the wrong picks in my life, though.

16/24. Pleasantly surprised that Parasite won both best picture and best director. Also surprised that Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood didn't win the screenplay Oscar. I didn't do much research on short films and documentaries so I got most of those wrong.
