Let's face it, injuries will happen and so will trades. So to keep up with current roster, how about this for a thread?

After the Gagne trade (insert excitement here) and the recent loss of McGinn and Read, here would be my proposal for lines.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Gagne-Schenn-Simmonds
Talbot-Couturier-Rinaldo
Fedotenko-Briere-Knuble

Timmonen-Schenn
Coburn-Grossman
Gus-Gervais

Gives us a great 1-2 punch, an energy/defensive minded line that can also pop in the odd goal and....a 4th line! Briere can make up for ice time on the PP.

Thoughts?

You would be better served using Danny Briere solely as a power-play specialist than using him in a bottom 4 role. I want no part of Danny B on a 3rd or 4th line. He belongs on the 2nd here. Simmonds should be moved to the third. Either that or Gagne on the 3rd w/ Couturier.

As far as the thread overall, is your idea to actually update the line combos with the Flyers' actual line combos? If so, then MSE already does that in each GameDay Thread.

If your idea is just to discuss ideas for lines, I think that's kinda similar to the numerous roster threads we have floating around.

That was my idea. I just thought we could leave it to one thread instead of going back and forth... Mods, what do you think?

Briere needs to be a winger on the 1st or second line. Every time he takes a faceoff in our zone, that's basically a scoring chance against.

I want Gags with Couturier. That could make a great checking line (I think Gags is mostly done in terms of offensive output) and maybe activate Couturier to play a little more aggressively in the opposing end.

Knuble is a healthy scratch tonight according to the Flyers report. Harry Z is in for McGinn and Gagne is replacing Knuble

Good call! I must say, Gagne looked good out there! Things could change a bit once McGinn and Read are back. I could see Fedotenko getting booted out of town. He hasn't been that bad by any means, just not that good either.

I'm not so sure McGinn gets put back in the lineup. Nothing against him, but really when everyone is healthy his only option is fourth line:

Hartnell-G-Voracek
Briere-Schenn-Simmonds
Gagne-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo-Talbot-McGinn/Feds

Fedotenko hasn't been bad at all and certainly neither has McGinn, but I think if push came to shove Fedotenko would get the nod over McGinn. Either way that team looks so much better than what we have been seeing most of the year. Now if the defense could get and stay healthy we might actually have something going here...

Anyone else think those lines look awesome? Top 6 will continue to be dangerous.

3rd line actually has some scoring potential with Gagne and Read and is still an awesome shutdown line. Hope to see Coots finally get an opportunity to create some offense.

4th line is just an awesome energy line (I'd like to see McGinn over Feds, haven't been to impressed with feds).

If the team can get healthy and roll into the playoffs with these lines I would be very, very happy. That's if we actually make it to the playoffs but that's besides the point.

I really like the potential line of Gagne-Couts-Read!

Could be the best 2 way line in the league!

On that magical day when all the forwards finally get healthy:

Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Briere - Schenn - Simmonds
Gagne - Couturier - Read
McGinn - Talbot - Fedotenko
Rinaldo

Are you sure you don't want to put Read back with Schenn and Simmonds?

Gagne - Couturier - Briere would be awesome.

Also, still fingers crossed we'll have our healthy defense soon:

Timonen - Schenn
Coburn - Grossmann
Meszaros - Gustafsson
