He had an incredible season as a rookie in the OHL, just turned 18 last month, best defenceman at WJC, and had 7 points in the memorial cup game.


Honestly, Its pretty cool that Canucks have a blue chip defence prospect that has #1 potential.

I am the last person that wants a d-man to be drafted so high. If it's not a guy like Jones or Ekblad, it's not worth using a top 5 pick. Could have had Tkachuk...

Not happy with the pick one bit. I have him 12th on my list, with Chychrun and Sergachev easily ahead of him on defense. I don't think Juolevi has nearly as high of a ceiling as the other two.

Edit: and that's ignoring guys like Tkachuk and Keller who are also easily ahead of him in terms of potential.

He's the best dman in this draft. I wanted Tkachuk but he was my second BPA. I can't believe some people have Chychrun still ranked higher than him.

I am happy with the pick. Harder to find a top pairing D than a winger. I was leaning towards Tkachuk myself but taking Juolevi is just fine.
