Players in the old school team can not be in the 90s/00s team aswell.
Who would win a 7 game series between these 2 teams? All players in their prime, small rinks.
You kiddin me Eye of Ra?.... Ruler of the Earth, the Sky's & the Underworld? From what depths of Mordor do you come up with this concept & comparative, one weve seen time & time again without providing a full set of qualifiers & criteria, equalizers, balances & checks, beyond ice surface size and rules of engagement, NHL or IIHF, during what period do you create all of these Orcs & on both teams simultaneously & contemporaneously or we talking time-shifting & teleportation & so on & so on & so forth.... follow? You trying to start WW3 between the generations here or what? Extra work for myself & the rest of the HOH Moderators because maybe youve decided were just not active, busy enough?...
Look, that is hardly a fair & balanced roster selection if "all things are equal" from entry level on up with every player in the modern age with the same introductions to the game, the same education & training including Summer Camps, Spring Leagues, Clinics... the same modern & advanced skating techniques, the superior equipment... just on & on. And even when you factor in all of that, modern rules, no fighting, short shift game, cycling, constant passing etc that the "old school" team would absolutely beat the modern era team as you have players who if they'd followed the same trajectory that they did in not only totally dominating their contemporary peers at the time would be projected to do same in the here & now.
Furthermore, if all things are equal there would be, are superior players from the past for that Earlier Era Team Canada or "All Star vs All Star" Tournament of the Ages, and I rather doubt the following would even make the Cut (I personally wouldnt even invite them as there are superior, far more complimentary players to be selecting)...Trottier, Richard & Esposito = Skating deficiency & this would be a game requiring speed & guile, not just guile which is much of what those 3 practiced & yes obviouslt very effectively & impressively, but a handicap vs the Modern Era Players..... Certainly wouldnt be going with Bobby Clarke or Mark Messier. First youve got 2 outsized non-complimentary ego's... then you have other issues in terms of character, "type of player" (2 way) with frankly superior players of that kind to invite to a Camp & then evaluate in terms on integration, complimentary to their line mates & so on.
Same thing with your Modern Era Roster. You dont really have a lot of real grit in there beyond Iggy, Shanny, the Big E & on the back-end Stevens & Pronger, and a smart tough player, even a shrewd finesse guy from the Old School squad, no problem pushing their buttons, throwing them off their games if not right off the ice with a Misconduct. What you do have are a number of players who wouldnt say **** if their mouths were full of it, so clean living, wholesome & pure they actually squeak when they walk-talk-skate. So they'd need some toughening up, tough love. More complete tool boxes. Weaponry. Physically & mentally. More time spent in the forges, Underworlds of Mordor. Saavy Mr. Wizard? I would suggest you try some Visine on that eyeball, fresh approach. Rip up what youve created & start over because the way its setup & tilted at the moment theres no question that just a few of those Old Era players just as was the case when a mere handful of Warriors in Lord of the Rings decimated 100's, 1000's of Orcs in hand to hand... well, you get the picture. Seen the movies I'm sure. Wouldnt be a fair series. Fight. Battle.
