There's the Sekera replacement.

Goodness, that defence is just beyond atrocious!

He was actually really good on the Caps during the regular season but kinda got owned by the Jackets forwards in the first 2 games of the playoffs.

Just what they needed. A Stanley Cup Champ who's going to bring experience for the next playoff series... or not...

There were rumors linking Kevin Bieksa to the Oilers. That has probably died.

So yes, a parade might be appropriate.

I'm tellin ya, he was hauling his bag around the Toronto airport headed somewhere two weeks ago so I kinda believe it....

Decent pickup for Edmonton, honestly surprised it took so long for someone to grab him. I think Jerabek still has some upside as he gets more familiar with the NHL game, wasn't overly impressed by Montreal moving him for just a 5th but he was good enough for bottom pair and I think he could have enough in him to be a guy that can slide into your top 4 here and there when called upon

I like it for Edmonton .. I was seriously piss last year that Julien was playing Brandon f***ing Davidson over him. Not a big risk anyway and he might find is game on NA rink.

Jerabek was a victim of Montreal not re-signing Markov and having a gigantic hole in the LD, which caused people (you can look it up) around this time last year to discuss the idea of Jerabek being a 1LD with Shea Weber right out of the gate and what a genius Bergevin will be if that happens. Stuff like this existed on blogs:

Instant Analysis: Andrei Markov will not be easily replaced on Habs blue line

The Canadiens do have one wildcard in all this: Jakub Jerabek. The Czech blueliner excelled in the KHL last year, and if Nikita Zaitsev is any indication, could play first-pairing minutes. His skillset compliments Weber’s, and utilizing Alzner as a shutdown specialist in turn would limit the stress on Jerabek during his transition to NHL game speed. The question then becomes: 1) is Jerabek good enough to fill that hole, and 2) are the Canadiens willing to give the relative unknown a chance to try?

So the hype was too high out the gate, and then he struggled at times as a first year NHLer, which just made things worse for him. In Washington he was used a lot better, but he also wasn't used much. With a season under his belt I think he could be a lot better, and Edmonton is a good place for him. Instead of being ready to crown him a top defenceman, Edmonton is so used to disappointment they will be happy with anything. That's a good spot for Jakub.

Klefbom - Larsson
Nurse - Russel
Jerabek/Gravel- Benning

Likely our D opening night.

If Klefbom and Larsson play to their abilities like we saw in 2016-17 then D shouldnt be as big as an issue as it seems.

Liked him during his short time with the Caps and was hoping they'd bring him back. He's a legit NHL player on the bottom pair. Made a big mistake in the playoffs and never saw the ice again partially due to the error, partially due to the Caps playing well and winning.

You know its been a slow summer around the NHL when the signing of Jakub Jerabek is the top thread in the "trade rumours and free agent talk"

Well, history has shown you can’t win without having 17 bottom pairing LH D right?

So I suppose this is just one more indication that our jackass GM is planning on having Russell stay on the RH side despite repeatedly proving he sucks donkey balls over there.

Come on thats not nice . Our jackass GM does suck other jackasses balls . He prefer elephants balls .

When the 2017-18 Habs don’t want you, you ****ing suck.

Well, he was still worth something in a trade at the deadline, to a cup contender (and not any contender).
Jerabek got MTL a 5th, Morrow a 4th... both were free agents that returned "something".
I still can't understand how MTL management went from Desharnais for Davidson, loosing him to the waivers and EDM gets a 3rd out of him...

I'm not really aware of the 3rd pair candidates for him in EDM but if slotted right and it's a very low risk, decent reward type of signing.
