That's the earliest start I can remember in years. It feels like it's been getting pushed later and later into October (which I hate).

Wish the NHL was not organized bu regions. Like to see more variety than the same tams over and over again.

Yeah it did but I'm already tired of Calgary. Bring on the actually good teams.

I'm not tired of Calgary. We only played them 4 times last year and not once since January.

I'd rather play them than a California team or something.

16 games in 30 days in November with only a single two-day break. That's pretty tough.

End of March is looking tough too with 9 games in 15 days to close out the month with no more than 1 day of rest between games.

Schedule highlights:

- Crosby vs. McDavid series is over and done with quickly, teams play each 10/24 and 11/1

- Hall visits Edmonton early as well in Game 12 of the season on 11/3

- Eberle gets to face his former team at home in NYI on 11/7

- Vegas visits on 11/14 for first game ever between franchises

- Sixteen games in 30 days in November, with 2 sets of back to backs and two road trips of 4 games and 5 games, respectively (that's gonna be a trying month)

- Matthews vs. McDavid series is over short span as well, teams play each 11/30 and 12/10

- From 12/14 to 1/4 we play 8 out of 10 games at home which should make for decent rest over holidays

- From 1/6 to 1/13 another 5 game road trip

- All star week and bye week are within 1/14-1/20 gap and 1/25-2/1, which include a 5 game home stand slotted in and around those times, very lax 3 weeks

- February starting has us playing the next 9 of 12 on the road for remainder of the month

- Sixteen games in 31 days in March, which has a 4 game road trip and a 5 game home stand

- Of the last ten games of the season, half are against playoff teams from last year, half are not

- Longest homestand is 5 which happens three times
- Longest road trip is 5 which happens two times, but there are also a spread of 3/4 game road trips
- Eleven back to back games total, which is a quarter of our season
- Ten afternoon games

The Oilers got kind of a ****** schedule this year. They have long stretches with games packed together and parts of the schedule with too many breaks. December is really the only normal month. Too few games to start the year.

October: 10 games
2 day breaks - 3
3 day breaks - 1
4 day breaks - 1
Back to backs - 0

November: 16 games
2 day breaks - 1
Back to backs - 2

December: 13 games
2 day breaks - 2
3 day breaks - 2
Back to backs - 1

January: 10 games
2 day breaks - 2
5 day breaks - 1
6 day breaks - 1
Back to backs - 2

February: 14 games
2 day breaks - 2
Back to backs - 3

March: 16 games
2 day breaks - 3
Back to backs - 3

April: 3 games
2 day breaks - 1
