Not really a surprise. This team hasnt looked right since Day 1 of the season.

Cant put forth a consistent effort. Get outworked. Stop skating. No attention to team defense. Lose their composure. etc.

And Holland, Woodcroft and the team really havent done much about it. They all keep thinking that things are magically going to turn around for them.

You know who Ken Holland is? Ken Holland is a trust fund kid. Ken Holland inherited this big fortune. Ken Holland stepped in as a general manager in 1997, the Red Wings already a Stanley Cup champion. Scotty Bowman built that thing up. Jim Devellano built that thing up. European scouting ahead of its time built that thing up. He was handed the GM chair, just like a rich person hands down their fortune to their son or their daughter, who didn’t work for it, didn’t earn it but is now going to benefit from it. And Ken Holland would go on to win a Stanley Cup in ’98, when money was no object. (Owner) Chris Illitch opened up the pocketbook and they won it in ’02. Salary Cup comes in the mid-2000s, they ride that to a Stanley Cup, but when it was time for Ken Holland to build on his own merits, you saw what happened to him. Trust fund kid. Everything was handed to him. When he had to work for it, the franchise crumbled.

Puljujarvi-Yamamoto-Bouchard-Broberg-Holloway is such an aggressively mediocre pile of shit of picks better spent elsewhere.

These guys bring nothing but stupid mistakes and blown chances night after night.

This team can't draft for shit unless they're spoon-fed a 1st overall pick and even then they can sometimes even screw that up.

8 seasons with arguably the most talented player of all time and they have 4 total playoff series wins and are a mediocre .500 team in his 8th season. Just rotting away the primes of two of the best players in the NHL and a complete afterthought in the contender landscape and an irrelevant franchise quite frankly.

Only the Oilers could accomplish this feat with the absolute gift from the hockey gods that they got handed to them.

Edit: 3 playoff series wins. 4 series wins in 8 seasons is too much to ask.
