• Toews recorded his third consecutive multi-point effort with a goal and an assist against the Golden Knights. He went 13-for-17 (76 percent) at the faceoff dot. It was his highest percentage of faceoffs won in a game this season. He has won 71% or more of his draws in three of his last four skates.​
• Brandon Saad registered two assists on Friday night to extend his point streak (1G, 4A) to three games. He has two multi-point performances over his last three games.​
• Duncan Keith played a game-high 28:33 of total ice time against Vegas.​

I've said this many times, but I think that it is a very bad sign for all Canadian teams when (as has happened many times in the past 10-15 years), multiple Canadian teams sit at or near the bottom of the standings. Obviously the teams suck, and there has to be internal accountability, but the stats show that since 1995 or so Canadian teams have seriously under-performed. One thing to think about as the Oilers head towards another disaster season is: can the Canadian franchises start to recognize this problem and maybe work together a little more?

Think about it: the Habs got Weber, the Oilers got Larsson, and two years later each team is in the toilet. Yet, with a little creativity and good will, the Habs could have Hall and the Oil could have Subban. Would both teams be higher in the standings right now and looking at a brighter future? Hard to say they wouldn't. But in Canada we always ship our young talent south, don't we? Just a thought.

Once I jump through a couple of hoops I will be getting media credentials for certain sporting events in Europe and Asia and will be blogging about Hockey A division Championships in Budapest in april and the world championships from Denmark in May and I may lay on a beach in South east Asia again for a month in March and to do all that adds up to about £2000
