Went to high school with him. Hoping for him to succeed. Would be nice for his hometown. Where he is from the Oilers fans far outweigh Calgary/Winnipeg

What's the point of this?
A bottom-six depth center. Someone to fill the void left by Strome's departure. It'll allow the Oilers to move Khaira back to the left wing where he actually produces.

A PPG this year in the A. He's worth a two or three game look.

Colby Cave board on Aleksander Barkov

In all seriousness he was serviceable for what he was, knew his role played it well, but nothing really outstanding to speak of. In otherwords a solid 4th liner on the right team. There just wasn't room for him on the roster once better players came off IR.

Not surprised he got claimed, too bad it was the Oilers though.

he looks like a guy that can probably bounce around for 3-4 years of semi decent fourth line hockey... that's more than most the guys given icetime on the oilers bottom 6 in recent years

oilers need to dress more guys that make a consistent effort being defensively responsible. its a small start

As fun as it is to dump on the Oilers I don't have a problem with them claiming every scrub on waivers and giving them a few games. They need offense, and you honestly never know when a guy just needed a change, finds chemistry, or can be used more effectively and suddenly you get a free top 9 forward.

Hasn't happened yet but it will. Sooner or later someone is going to get top line minutes when all they ever got was defensive 4th line time and show they have the skill to be in the NHL.

No kidding. Making moves like these are no risk, potential for small reward.

All making a waiver claim costs is money, and if you aren't happy with the 13 forwards that you have it makes a lot of sense to keep rolling the dice on what's out there.

Every once in awhile a team pulls a guy like Grabner or Byron off waivers.

Hey he centered Marchand and Pastrnak when Bergeron went out! It um didn’t work out.

He might be a AAAA player. He might be a 4th liner.
