We are 9 years removed from the oilers last drafting first overall. The nhl has twigged the draft procedures about 6 times since they last won. Time to move off of that theory as it has been changed to try to prevent bad teams from getting lots of top picks. And yes the Sabres lead the charge in making sure the NHL did not change the draft in McDavid's draft year.

What makes the oiler sucking so great is everything they did in an attempt to win backfired on them. I remember looking at capgeek one day going back over several years of Oilers spending and once Katz took over the oilers were nearly always top 5 in spending but bottom of the standings. No one was beating Colorado and Oilers won as many games against Vegas as anyone.

The best team in history, Dallas got outscored 21-12 by Vegas last season.
