I keep reading that Drai and McD want out because the Oilers are so bad. We are currently third in playoff wins since 2021 with 22 wins. Not many teams doing better than us in the last 3 years. We are keeping elite company.

Note: Stars may catch us and push us to 4th. If we, somehow, win the series we'll be second behind the Panthers with 26.

The fact that the top 5 only has 1 cup winner (in the last 5 years) is suspect lol.

It likely means the cup winner loads up and loses early the next season. Kind of a weird one

How you feeling about the Dallas series?

I’m thinking Stars in 5.
Oilers in 7. Dallas doesn’t seem that scary to me. They’re an awesome team for sure, but I think it will be way closer than people think.

The story of them wanting out is because those guys have put up historic paces and the team has failed to surround them with the bare minimum to win a cup.

And while sure you can say playoff wins are 3rd when you look at who they have beaten in that span... They beat the kings x3 and the Flames. Hardly anything to brag about. Vancouver might be the first team they have beaten who could be considered a contender

Revisionist history. Plenty had Flames as cup favourites that year, they won the division.

Nobody smart had Calgary as a cup favroite.

The Oilers have been the beneficiaries of the worst playoff format in the big 4 north American sports, getting locked in to a bad division and dodging the heavyweights of the conference. There's a reason they're 2-12 in the series they've lost in that span

Please. Flames could barely win a single playoff game for years, no one thought they were legit

  • Oilers are third in playoff wins since 2021

  • Leon Draisaitl is one of the best playoff performers in NHL history

  • When will Bouchard be considered elite

  • McDavid is on a serious run to try to beat Gretzky's single season playoff assist record

  • Evan f***ing Bouchard

---------

Take a breather lads, this is the top half of the Playoff Forum right now.

I mean there's 4 teams left and Edmonton already has two all time great playoff performers in McDrai.

Canadian media unanimously backs Canadian team? The same media that shoves canadian teams down our throat every chance they get? What a shocking revelation
I mean half of them backed the Avs but go off king. Flames were good that year, the Oilers just broke them.

Wrong. Flames were a Cup contender that year.

Stanley Cup Odds Ahead Of The NHL Playoffs

3rd best odds from a USA sportsbook behind Florida and Colorado that year.

Its incredible the lengths people will go to to discredit the Oilers. Flames were a force that year until the Oilers beat them, then they were pretenders.

Wasting your time debating this with him. Flames were a contender until the Oilers spanked them into oblivion

Not sure what happens if the Oilers somehow win the cup this year! Be the first time in history a team didn't play any contenders

The save percentage is interesting but there is one flaw. Knights are second with .655 but have only played 29 games, Vancouver is 6th with .538 in 13 games. For me it is about games played. Panthers are 42, Canes 40 tied with the oilers, Stars 39, Avs 38, Rangers 37.

However, I have an issue with the limitations on the time given. Instead of 21/22 to 23/24--let go to 19/20 to 23/24.

Bolts 82gp/51 wins .622
Knights 68gp/41wins .603
Stars 66gp/36wins .545
Avs 63gp/40 wins .634
Cans 59gps/30 wins .509

You can spit out numbers anyway you like to make a point. For looking at 5 or 10 years will give you a better idea of what organizations have been the better ones

Top 5 last 10 years?

Bolts 146gp/87 wins .596
Knights 95gp/57wins .600
Caps 93gp/44 .478
Bruins 93gp/45w .484
Stars 92gp/50w .543

I keep reading that Drai and McD want out because the Oilers are so bad.

As McDavid said, "Cup or bust". Losing in the 1st/2nd/3rd round is no different than missing the playoffs. If McDavid/Draisaitl are going to stay, Oilers need to start showing they're serious about improving the team. That starts with spending assets to improve the goaltending.

I assume you mean to McDrai because I'd much rather be in round 3 than a SJ Sharks fan today (or whoever finished last).

As far as assets for G.. Holland did! He is paying Jack F'n Campbell 25 million dollars.

I'm not a Holland fan in case it isn't obvious.

That is impressive since they have zero third-round wins.

They don't do well against good teams.

I always thought bragging about being a better loser was weird.
