Seeing that the oilers need defenseman and have good young forwards and the preds have depth in d can anyone see a trade that could help both sides out?

The problem is Edmonton has two pieces in LD and RNH that Nashville would be interested in and probably aren't willing to move either and Nashville has three pieces in Josi, Weber, and Jones and probably aren't willing to move any. So we will be stuck in the no young #1C black hole that we have been and Edmonton will have to shop elsewhere unless Poile surprises me.

I just don't think the Preds want to trade away any of the defense. Weber, Josi and Ellis are locked up long term. Jones looks the part and is proving he is more than capable.

Those would be big four trade pieces on defense and I don't see Polie willing to part with any of them at the moment.

the problem is we actually dont have depth at D. We have 5 really good defensemen and two servicable 6/7 players, one of whom is on a one year contract.

Beyond that we really dont have anyone ready at the NHL level.

So we wont be looking to trade defensemen any time soon, I suspect.

Locked up long term doesn't mean anything. Last I remember jones is on ELC. I'd trade Ellis in a heart beat with some D prospects.

Who's the 6/7 d men? Weber/josi ekholm/Ellis jones/Bartley

Plus the d men the preds have coming up. So I believe the preds can give up their 3rd 4th dman plus prospects and picks for a great forward.

Could something be worked out around defensive prospects for forward prospects? Probably.

Could something be worked out around roster defensemen and roster forwards? Probably not.

No, I'd do that it probably makes the most sense out of any proposal involving Edmonton for us, but they now have nothing in terms of center depth don't see them doing it.

Their D is atrocious. Nikita got scratched as their #2 D who was signed from CLB who was their 3/4 d man. They just recently fired their goalie coach who is only in charge if 2-3 guys. If they didn't give up 7 goals a game they might have a chance. That and drafting the same type of player.

Every team has center issues. So add the oilers in the mix. But they can improve their defense. So I believe the preds are good suitors

6/7 would be Volchenkov and Bartley. And what dmen coming up are you speaking of? Diaby? because he's the only one really but he's probably 2 years from prime time NHL ready.

The Preds and Oilers don't make good trading partners simply because the only thing preds would trade any of their valuable defenders is for an equal center, which is one of the oilers weak points.

The trade i could see between Preds and Oilers:

NSH: Perron
EDM: Wilson 3rd/4th round pick in 2015/2016

I know that Wilson-Jarnkrok-Smith line has been good and Colin is earning his spot right now but still.. Perron could make our top6 pretty solid and I really like his game! He has the shot and is also pretty strong player who I see helping us to be better overall.

What do you think?

Right now our 3 and 4 are Ellis and Ekholm. If you're saying we could trade Jones plus prospects plus picks for a great forward I laugh and hang up. There's just no way we are adding multiple prospects and multiple picks to Jones for anything Edmonton will trade, and depending on the picks and prospects that could even be way too steep for Hall or RNH.

If you want one of Ellis++ or Ekholm++ it's almost certainly going to be Ekholm. Then it becomes a matter of what else you want, and who you're sending our way. I can tell you right now that we have no interest in putting together a great package for any wingers not named Hall, and with Edmonton's center depth issues I don't see us making good partners for anything big.

Outside of maybe a PK specialist, I really don't think the Preds need to do much right now.

Which can be had for a mid round pick + roster player, at the most. I don't see Poile doing too much before the deadline, no need to go to crazy since we are playing well.

Wouldn't mind moving Stalberg + 3rd for an actual 3rd line winger who can play the PK every night, Fisher coming back will help improve it also.

Dougherty. But even he is years away as he's going the college route. Scouts and analysts very high on him.

If they are drafting in the top two we become good partners.

If they are drafting in the top two they aren't trading either of those picks, the only thing that would really change is it could potentially make someone like draisaitl more available. Not exactly sure I trade anything the Oilers would want for Draisaitl.
