The Oilers have 6 players participating in this year’s Olympics. “It’s nice to see our players get some international recognition. We think they’re great, I guess the world thinks they are as well…†commented GM Gledhill.

The participating players are as follows:

Canada – Ryan Smyth
Czech Republic – Ales Hemsky, Martin Rucinsky
Finland – Teemu Selanne
Russia – Evgeni Nabokov, Vitaly Vishnevski

Noticeably absent is the Czech sniper Martin Havlat. “I’ve decided to sit out both the NHL and the Olympics this year. My commitment to the HFNHL is just too important to me†explained Havlat.

In other news, the Oilers have finally reclaimed the Northwest Division from the pesky Minnesota Wild. The Oil has been dominant against divisional opponents posting a record of 6-1-1, and has yet to play the division’s weakest link (record-wise) the Colorado Avalanche.

Coach Keenan pointed out that his team is “in real good shape, to be where we are a this point in the season….â€

And now minus Elias as he was replaced by Kotalik today because of injury.

The only, and I say only, good thing about Canada losing to the Swiss is that I noticed Beat Forster was on the Swiss roster. So... add him and subtract Streit (traded to LA)...
