What say you Marc Bergevin...

I really like this little *******. Had some very good showings recently in international competition against top opponents and plays in a very competitive league. Excellent playmaking skills, speed, plays bigger than his size. Lots of upside with him.

The Chicago Blackhawks select Adrian Kempe from Modo of the Swedish Hockey League. He has been playing at an advanced level with moderate success and has had a nice projectionable development path through the U-18 WJC's. He's a prototypical Chicago draft pick, strong on the puck, not afraid of contact or net-front activity, playing advanced hockey by the time he gets into the system.

The New Jersey Devils close out the first round by selecting goaltender Thatcher Demko from Boston College. The Devils desperately need some flash up front, but with guys like Ho Sang, Goldobin and the imports off the board its time to address a position of need going forward. The Devils haven't had to worry about goaltending for a while and with a lackluster group in house, Demko offers a long term solution.

With the 40th selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, the Ottawa Senators are pleased to select, from Frolunda of the SEL, winger Anton Karlsson.

"I like big strong guys," said Murray, noting Karlsson has some work to do in the gym. "But I also like high-end skilled people."

Anton Karlsson is the brother of Erik Karlsson, the Hurricanes prospect. He's a big body (6'2", 194 lbs. at 17) and a fast skater who was used by Frolunda in every situation this past year. He scored at nearly a PPG clip with the Frolunda J-20 team and contributed 88 penalty minutes, too.

Gotta love them Karlssons.

The New Jersey Devils select Hunter Smith from the Oshawa Generals. Most scouts going to Oshawa spent their time watching Michael Dal Colle, and came away from games (especially later in the season) hoping that Smith would be available in the middle rounds. The Devils like Smith's size, puck protection, ability to protect his teammates, and aren't as concerned with his skating as he has noticeably improved on that throughout the year.

Washington selects Parma, Ohio native and Plymouth Whaler keeper, Alex Nedeljkovic.

With Holtby not having a firm grasp on the position as yet, and having shipped off Halak and Neuvirth, the Caps could stand to refortify this traditionally strong position.

Ned has some tremendous athleticism and has posted great numbers while seeing a lot of work at a very young age for Plymouth.
