He's literally one of the clutchest players in NHL history. That's no hyperbole. All-time leader (tied) in goals in elimination games.

Add three more in the biggest possible game without being one.
Are elimination games any game where the series can end?

I was up in the air about even watching tonight. I'm not doing so hot mentally (just found out I may not have a job in a couple of months), but I'm glad I did. I'm still stressed af but the 3rd period improved my mood considerably.
hang in there - its tough for us fans but take care of your mental health first
I had to walk the dog after it was 3-1 too painful, but then I switched to Sam and Dave and got back into it

Always makes me uncomfortable to see that stuff.

Not gonna lie though, after the Devils blew g7 to the Canes in 2009 they showed a Devils fan (who must have been no older than 15 at the time) crying. I laughed my ass off because 1. He was old enough and 2. Devils fan, so f*** him.
Most of us have been there if we started watching sports that young, we just didn't have it on a TV broadcast for the world to see.

If you don't know about how fun this is...

If you DVRd the game, go watch it again.
Make note of all the fans they showed while the canes were scoring.
Then see if they look as happy later...
So sad. #sadjerks

Now, Suburban Phoenix. Then, Long Island
So this morning I posted something about how Kreider’s comments before game 6 sounded like Messier’s comments before Game 7. Several people called me out saying that we don’t have a Messier on this team. Well tonight we did.

I couldn’t help but think about the end of the Messier game. I was crying and my then 10 year old daughter asked me why I was crying. Well, no tears tonight but just exhilaration about a legendary effort and a great win. For a lot of reasons, Kreider has been our guy here for a long time. One of my former players coached him in high school and he gave my grandson a stick after a game here a few years ago. He always comes across as the kind of leader you want your team to have. Tonight will be special forever.

Someday my grandson and I will be at The Garden when they retire his jersey. Hopefully it will be right next to a Stanley Cup Championship banner. It will be a joyous event.
