I watched the Avs game last night and was pretty impressed with Mackinnon. Playing with a lot of confidence already. His biggest asset is clearly his speed. Give him some room and he will be up the ice in 5 strides.

Curious to see what Barkov does with Huby.

if barkov scores today he's the youngest player to ever score a nhl goal, a record that probably never will be matched.

But Ginn still had to put the pucks in. What's funny is Ginn didn't even get a star of the game.

Hold your horses guys, I've a gut feeling that his start will be much slower than you might think, I'd say it takes him 10 games or so to start producing what you might expect.

I pretty much agree with this. Barkov told the media he feels about 50-60% right now just because of the speed of the North American game. So once he gets acclimated, i think we'll see a much better Barkov. The key here is patience, especially due to his age. Something people should remember is how mediocre Stamkos was his first year. Now, he's scored more goals in the past 4 years than any other player. So time is everything here. I'm already prepared to be patient, but i also hope i'm surprised.

Should be renamed Jinx thread. Kinda worked for Hubs. MacKinnon is off to a 2 point debut though.

Why do you think I did it? Was waiting on ATG to start one but he kinda dropped the ball so I went ahead and started it.

That would be pretty sweet!

Agreed. Want to be patient because I know how young he is but hoping for some flashes tonight!

Kinda contradicting yourself! Proudly repeat after me, "I Am A PANTHER Fan". :)

Welcome aboard. Make sure you give us some insight from time to time on his play here compared to how he was for you guys.

Tavares also looked lost at times his rookie year. Sometimes it's not the guy who flies out of the gate who ends up being the better player.

That's my guess too. But he should be a valuable guy later in the season...

My guess: 1 secondary assist today but sure hope he breaks that NHL youngest player ever(by nowadayd rules) to score record.

It's too bad today is his only shot at breaking it, as when he plays on Saturday, he'll be 18 and 33 days, and Grant Mulvey has the record at 18 and 32 days.

Barkov better be good, don't think this franchise can afford another bust. 2nd overall picks should be slam dunks. That's not the case here.

I predict he will turtle for most of tonight's game, not feeling comfortable enough to create offense yet. Will take a while for him to get into the groove, but it will happen.

Give him at least one game to prove you wrong, if he doesn't score a hat-trick and get 2 assists then he will be a bust :sarcasm:
