Comtois, Robertson, Ratcliffe, Bowers, Lind, Boqvist, Vesalainen

Pretty much how I personally see the top 30-35 regarding forwards at the moment. I still have wiggle room. As Appleyard alluded to in his other post, I do see a divide around 13/14 perhaps; then it gets more open. That's really the lowest I wanted to pick to hopefully ensure one of my/our favorites. Pretty much worst case then would be Tolvanen/Andersson, and that's a pretty good worst case. But if they can pick more like 10th (I'm personally less certain they go higher than that), it's just upping the chances of getting a higher tier player, or making it easier to trade up for one if need be. Not to forget, we can possibly pick 40-ish too. It's not hard to see a few of these guys being available there. There really isn't a ton of separation in that late 1st-40, and it could easily happen. Also makes it easy to trade back up into the late 1st should Hextall want. We have plenty of 3rds and 4ths if that specific target exists.

My first thought has always been that Yamamoto would have to be really, really dynamic for us to pick him that high at that size. Then I started to think about it, and we do have some size elsewhere in the forward pool. Anyone who knows better can correct these measurements, but presuming some things about who will be here in the next 2-3 years:

Simmer, Couts, Jake, Lindblom (6'2"), Allison (6'2"), Laczynski (6'0"), Bunny (6'1"),
Rubtsov (6'1"), Vorobyov (6'2"), plus Marody (6'0")and Twarynski (6'3"). The defense is going to mostly be huge, plus one cyborg. Salinitri and NAK seem to be in between a bit. Konecny, Giroux, Friedman (who I think is thicker) and Ghost are really the only ones moving forward (if you don't think Cousins or Weal are here long-term) who are kind of undersized. So maybe it doesn't make too much difference.

I wouldn't pick him there though. I'm not Don Sweeney and understand pick value. I just rank him around there (#10) because I do think he's that good. Like I said, if he goes in the 20s (which might not be unrealistic), that's when I pull the trigger to move up with our 2nd, if we can.

I also think size concerns are going to be trampled in the coming years. We have a lot of big bodies among our forwards, both NHL roster and prospects, and our defense will be......yeah. Even right now our NHL forwards are average sized. And not a one would I call "soft."

NAK is really a thickly built kid despite being average height (5'11") he's often listed around 200 lbs. & he looks it.

Magua- thoughts on Tolvanen? Seems to be your 4th tier. Some concern about his skating? I know he's not the biggest guy in the world but he supposedly has a high end shot.

Kind of reminds me of Boeser during his draft year. Both players aren't tall, some skating concerns and both have great shots.

Can he create for himself? This team needs goal scorers.

You labeled it 4th tier, not me haha. I got a little nitpicky around there since that's where we're at. I still really like him. To be honest, if we can finagle our way to pick top 10, he probably wouldn't be one of my first few choices. I'd hope to get one of the next tier guys. But if we were closer to 13/14, I'd be happy to get him.

Boeser is a lot bigger...3 inches and probably 20-25 lbs. Body type really isn't close. I know he's not a blazer, but his skating isn't bad or anything. At least I don't think so. Looks like he needs more strength work. I don't see why he can't get it to slightly above average or something. But that's just speed. His agility and edge work is very good imo. High end shot?....uh yeah. Every shot type. He's just really smart and understands off puck spacing as a sniper. I even think he competes hard off the puck in both ends. But I'm sure size+skating will be question marks on draft day to potentially drop him. It's hard to watch USHL games though, so I'm hoping he gets to play in the u18s.

If he's on the board Cody Glass seems like a guy the Flyers would jump on given what they generally look for in potential draftees.

Probably. If he's even there. Lol I'm just partially afraid it's Rasmussen they put high on their board. I could see it. "Safe, goal scoring center with size to spare." I do trust our scouting department under Hextall, but in the back of my mind......

Yep, that's my nightmare. He's meant to be a Devil, surely.

What is the offensive upside for Cody Glass?

Definitely has top 6/line upside, though I don't think his skill level is exactly elite, but it's high, and he's just really really smart and crafty on top of it. I think Glass's skill level is equal to Vilardi's, if that means something. Straight line skating is better than his, though his quickness and first steps too needs some work.

The only concerns I have, and have had, are his troubles in the physicality department. He loses a ton of puck battles, and you can tell he doesn't like to hold onto the puck long with defenders on him. But he works and competes real hard, isn't afraid to get to the dirty spots, and has a lot of weight to gain and still looks awkward in his body, so I'll place my bet in his favor that it's a development thing. He's still a bit raw. The other is that I'm not totally sold he's a center at the next level. He could be, and he's smart enough for sure and not a slouch defensively, but his strengths offensively do seem more off-the-rush and off puck in the o-zone. Back to the other point, he's not one to necessarily control play on the puck, more choosing to make quick, intelligent decisions -- he's a really sneaky passer and has a great shot -- rather than hang onto it. He does excel getting open off the puck and making quick trigger passes and shots on it. Maybe that's a style preference.....maybe as he adds weight, he'll feel more comfortable hanging onto it. On the PP he plays in the Schenn slot spot....he's really good at tips and stuff too.

No one is perfect in this draft, and I still have him at pick 6 or 7, so I've made peace with it and like him a ton regardless.

I worry that the Devils will pull a Costanza and just decide to do the opposite of what they think they should do and not take Rasmussen.

That's where Jim Benning comes in.

I like Yamamoto, but agree it might be a tad stretch at 10-12. I really want a high kill forward, regardless of size. We need to find a Nylander, Gaudreau, Ehlers type of silky smooth winger.

Agree with nearly everything.

Pettersson, Vilardi and Necas are my favourites, given where we might pick.

I knew Glass would rise. Guy is a stud on a mediocre team.

I believe Tippett deserves a top 10 spot, otherwise it looks great. I may be in the minority but if we ever get a second first I wouldn't mind Foote selected if Kole LInd is off the board. Big fan of his game.
