So, as dinner conversations go, my recent one was especially productive. My brother and I attempted to come up with a comedy TV series, based off one ridiculous premise: A blind cop who is unintentionally racist, arresting only black people for petty crime, accidentally planting evidence, etc. Like a darker Mr. Magoo.
With that in mind, we attempted to come up with actors to play the various people on the force. Since it's television, we didn't take any major actor or, if we did, it was a major actor who's on the downslope of his or her career. Here's what we came up with:
Blind Cop - It was a tough one, but I believe we finally settled on Rob Riggle. It was tough finding someone who could play a cop, be believably blind, and be alright with being racist as well. Riggle seemed to fit the bill. We also debated Simon Pegg, James Rodney, and Jim Carrey.
Blind Cop's partner - Kenan Thompson. Perfect fit for the cop partner who gets up in arms everytime blind cop does something unintentionally racist. His time in the Kenan and Kel Show as the straight man in that comedy duo should serve him well in this role. Bonus points if we can get Kel as one of blind cop's first arrestees.
Angry Woman Cop - Kaitlin Olson. Basically, all she needs to do is play the same role she already does in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Angry at the world, manipulative, and not above breaking a few laws to get her way.
The Captain - This one we went back and forth with for a long time. We originally had Anthony Michael Hall, after seeing his recent performance as the captain of a police force in Psych. He was hilarious. But at the same time, we really want to go with someone who looks older and someone with a more comedic background. Maybe Colin Mochrie?
Yeah, we're terrible people.
