Yes, given the right proposal. This is ludicrous. Do they think vegas is gonna shell out another 750M for a stadium?
Then they are in for a rude awakening. All of this could have been avoided if Selig and the rest of the owners put more pressure on the SFG to accept a new stadium in San Jose. Or, if MLB had been more forward thinking and not recognized the splitting of the market in the 1990s when the Giants failed to move to San Jose.
MLB/SFG deserve what they get if the Bay Area becomes a one team market.

Yup, in a heart beat
MSG and The Venetian are currently dropping $1.66 billion on The Sphere. A 17,500 seat arena where the building itself is 1 giant 170,000 square foot screen
The real estate will cost a fortune, but there is a giant open space on The Strip across from The Wynn and next to Resorts World
Google Maps
There's also rumors that The Luxor might be up for implosion soon, so they could in theory put it across the highway from Allegiant Stadium

MLB teams derive more revenue from regional media packages than from the national package. Good luck with that in Nevada.
2.23 million Metro population, wouldn't be close to the smallest market in MLB. Also currently the fastest growing metro area in the country. No luck needed
MLB has done little to rectify the situation. I have no sympathy. A 3/4th’s vote could have overridden SFG’s opposition and would have been a smart financial move for the league (and the Giants, eventually). The whole San Jose thing was a freaking clerical error! "Major League Baseball" as an organization was nothing but a piece of paper describing the relationship between the AL & NL.
It said that a team can't move into certain territories without the permission of 3/4 of the OTHER LEAGUE, so that they didn't have turf wars. The Giants got the A's permission to include San Jose in the territory that so that the AL didn't have to vote on it to approve the move. (They were trying to act quick because MLB commish just died and they didn't have a new one; and the Giants were trying to get government earthquake reconstruction money).
But when they merged AL & NL into Major League Baseball in the late 90s, they turned those documents into the MLB Constitution, and in doing so, accidentally granted the Giants exclusive rights to San Jose.
MLB does NOT deserve what they get if the Bay Area becomes a one team market. That's very bad for everyone. In fact, the Giants were blocked from moving to Tampa in the early 90s because "THE ONLY BAY AREA TEAM" would become a freaking financial juggernaut.

But now A’s are teetering on the brink of relocation, despite the beautiful Howard Terminal proposal (would easily be one of the prettiest ballparks in the league). f*** MLB for not solving this problem a decade ago. Let them suffer.
Even Las Vegas Ballpark has advantages over Oakland Coliseum
Paywall.
Great opening line; You can't spell leverage without LV.
If the Athletics move to Las Vegas, they could play out of the Aviator's stadium until a new one is built. A's were averaging under 5k fans/game from $24 and up. Aviators sell out (more than 9k) at an average price of $60.
But nothing is decided.
They'd be the smallest TV market in the league though. And they'd be the third major league sports team in the market, which imo would be too much for Vegas to handle. MLB's 81 home games per year make the NHL's 41 seem like nothing.2.23 million Metro population, wouldn't be close to the smallest market in MLB. Because of this, I think a Vegas MLB team would fail miserably, but maybe I'm just a skeptic.
Report: Oakland A’s brass to visit Portland next month
Paywall
Confirmation that the As brass will visit Portland, OR next week. The cities of Las Vegas and Henderson refuse to confirm if/who As will be meeting with.
From what I recall under this mayor's term, they did negotiate a buyout that was valid for 3 years as long but could look only in Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties.I still say he's the villain, considering he refused to let the team break the Tropicana Dump lease early.
