Powell has been good at AAA this year with a .906 OPS.

Mariners have really gotten subpar 1B production, even the .786 OPS Alonso has produced since July began is an upgrade. I like this trade for them. Gamel-Heredia-Haniger-Martin-Dyson with Kyle Lewis coming, they still have an OF logjam.

No way the A's were offering Alonso a QO at like 18 M. He would have most likely taken it. Baseball is chock full of corner OFs and 1Bs right now.

Very true re: outfield. The players you mentioned aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

That's worth it just even for the rights to negotiate with Alonso exclusively.
