The timing fits more with the Rangers meeting a high price than the Blues settling for less, but you never know.

Maybe because the Blues have a lot to sell they basically told everyone interested in Tank. 1st person to meet this asking price gets him. We aren't going to nickle and dime here's the price 1st to meet it gets their guy.

May not be optimal returns on this specific deal, but good business can be better in the long run.
