Sounds like brian boyle minus the defense. mother of god.

Sounds more like Miller, who also played top6 minutes and did not impress so far. Etem and Miller have eerily similar numbers in both NHL and AHL. Both are 1st round picks, both needed a bit more time to develop and both have yet to have their breakout year in the NHL.

Saying Etem is a bottom-6 forward while Miller is a top-6 forward does not make sense at all. It all depends on how they will develop.

Like McIrath, we have no choice at this point but to wait and see what we have with Etem. What he was prior means absolutely nothing, only what he CAN/WILL be for us.

They are similar, but Etem is a year older and that does make a difference. Also, Miller did get better (at least as far as I'm concerned--AV probably too, since he played him more as the playoffs progressed) as the playoffs went along--getting more responsibility too. That gives Miller a step up in training camp and probably the first chance at the top 6 spot. It won't be given to him, but he'll get the chance to earn it.

Etem is probably more naturally talented than Miller, though it remains to be seen what kind of NHL players both players can develop into.

If you're the Rangers you're hopeful at least one of them find their niche at the NHL level - both making the transition for the Rangers would probably be unlikely, though exceptional if it happened.
