This isn't anything new a lot of starpower has been investing into the NWSL. It is good news for the future of women's soccer in America.

On one hand, Jon Bon Jovi did so much good for the AFL, right. The reason I’m skeptical of star power ownership is because teams are usually better off owned by people who pay those stars. Stars who usually end up in full ownership were very much transcendent stars.

However, with less capital requirements and some help from MLS owners, NWSL requires both the presence and the commitment, and this helps. Plus there are two bases of support (USWNT, Portland) from which to grow.
